“I’m inspired by the opportunity to capture the magic hidden within the mundane and the extraordinary within the ordinary.”
Steve Bennett is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based visual artist who makes small worlds large and large worlds small through macro and close-up photography. He began taking and making photographs 40 years ago in the age of film and transitioned into digital imaging in the mid-90s. Today, he trains his lens on a variety of natural subjects, ranging from flowering plants and barely discernible “microworlds” to expansive landscapes that inspire a sense of the sublime.
Steve’s work has been displayed in solo exhibits as well as juried events sponsored by the Cambridge Art Association, Fort Point Arts Community, Bromfield Gallery, Blue Mountain Gallery, Gallery Twist, 13 Forest Gallery, and others. His work has also been on display in Google’s Kendall Square, Cambridge offices and in the offices of various software, biotech, pharmaceutical, and financial service companies in the Boston area.
Steve is a founding member of Array Contemporary, a Boston-based fine art gallery.
